Wyre Forest Wargames Club is a small club dedicated to all forms of wargaming. Originally we were based in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, although nowadays our members come from all over the surrounding area. We have members from all parts of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire, including Bewdley, Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Hereford, Ledbury, Stourport, Redditch, Worcester and Wolverhampton.
We meet twice a month, the first and third Sunday of the month normally. The first session of the month usually takes place at Hallow Scout Hut, Hallow, Worcestershire WR2 6PP. The second meeting of the month is at St. Ambrose Parish Hall, Leswell St., Kidderminster, WORCS, DY10 1RP (see below for directions to both the venues).
If you would like to know more about the club please contact us using the following email address: committee@WyreForestGamers.groups.io
The plan is to hold two club Sundays per month: -
First Sunday of the month at Hallow Scout Hut, near Worcester. We will be holding all-day events at this venue on selected Sundays.
Third Sunday of the month at St. Ambrose, Kidderminster.
Please check the Diary and Events page for details of currently confirmed bookings. All dates are subject to change and members are requested to check regularly the group email for any revision of plans.
After a suggestion from John F, a 'Hints and Tips' page has been added to the website (the link is on the Scenarios, Rules and Services page), to which members can place ideas regarding products, books, painting and modelling techniques, tools and shortcuts. If you want to share your ideas with the group, please send your suggestions to me and I will add them to the page.
The Barons' War Wargame Convention took place at Wallace House, Oat St, Evesham WR11 4PJ, on 16th and 17th May. The club ran a display game on both days, a Vikings vs Saxons battle featuring 28mm figures and terrain from Bryan's collection. The club won second prize for 'best display game in the show', a tribute to all the hard work that Bryan and others put in to both days. A brief account of the show is available on the Diary and Events page and more pictures of our game and other displays can be seen in the Gallery.
The club Annual General Meeting was held at St Ambrose Parish Hall on Sunday 19th April. Minutes of the meeting are available here.
Paul B has issued a painting challenge to club members for 2026. In his own words: -
As previously mentioned each year I always get inspired by the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge, where painters spent three months painting their projects and various themed ‘challenges’.
So I’d like to do something in a similar vein but without the competition element. It’s just for fun, there’s no winners and losers apart from us getting new models to the table. There are no rules, paint what you want, if you can’t meet the monthly theme substitute something else, I’ve been deliberately vague with the titles. Above all, share pictures on Facebook and on the email group.
The July painting challenge is titled "Reinforcements"
More details can be found on the club Facebook page.
Graham has produced a set of WWII rules inspired by his friend Dave Chubb, who was a member of the club for several years until his death in October 2023. You will find the rules here and I am grateful to Graham for permitting them to be available on the site.
Nick's latest set of rules are now on sale. 'Twilight of the Emperor' covers the period 1800-1815 and provides detailed rules for recreating large-scale battles of the Napoleonic era. More details can be found at Wyre Historic Books.
